Happy International Day of the World's Indigenous Happy International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples!
This year’s theme ‘The Role of Indigenous Women in the Preservation and Transmission of Traditional Knowledge’, recognizes the important role of Indigenous women as traditional keepers of their languages and cultures.
Our Indigenous women have long been at the forefront of their communities, as matriarchs, Elders, teachers, leaders, healers, and providers ❤️

We'd like to introduce you to 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗮 We'd like to introduce you to 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗮 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘄𝗼𝗼𝗱, age 11, from Le'qá:mel and has always been active in sports. She plays basketball, volleyball, track and field and most recently hockey..
Philamena plays for the Mission Stars hockey team and in her first year she received an award for "Rookie of the Year" 🏒 Her goal is to represent Stó:lō women on the Canadian Olympic team!

It is incredibly important to us that we are highlighting youth as we continue to seek these role models from within our 6 communities, such as Philamena or Tyson George who was apart of our recent Stó:lō Signal magazine!
We ask that if you have any children, nieces, nephews or grandchildren that you would like to see featured in our Stó:lō Signal Magazine for any sort of accomplishments they may have! Please send us an email outreach@sxta.bc.ca
