INCREDIBLE turnout at our SXG Youth Group event ho INCREDIBLE turnout at our SXG Youth Group event hosted alongside UBC’s CEDaR Media! We introduced the prototype of Kw’í:ts’tèleq Game to our youth and had the opportunity to listen to all of them deliver important feedback to Dr. David Gaertner as to what they, as our Stó:lō youth, would like to see from the game themselves! 🐻🎮

Thank you to all of those who joined us that evening 🤲🏽 we look forward to our next event with this group.

These were created with the goal of having a visual depiction to represent our Treaty.

The paddle holds a salmon and helps to move us forward together. The seven waves in the paddle also represent our 𝗧𝗼́𝗺𝗶𝘆𝗲𝗾𝘄 - seven generations forward and seven generations back 🧡

We are so excited to introduce you to handsome 𝗢𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗛𝗲𝗻𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗼𝗿𝗲, from Leq’á:mel & Soowahlie.
This little guy is an absolute warrior, his mom was told to prepare for the worst while she was syémyem (pregnant) but at 19 weeks, the drs took back what they were saying the entire pregnancy because he was thriving against all the odds! And here he is, as healthy as can be 💙
He’s learning to smile now and it’s absolutely adorable. His favourite thing to smile at is mama and the mobile on his swing.

In this ninth episode, nearing the end of our season, we explore: 𝗟𝗵𝗹𝗶́𝗺𝗲̀𝗹𝗵𝗰𝗵𝗮 𝗼 𝗲𝘆𝗮́𝗹𝗲𝘄𝗲𝘁
“𝗪𝗲’𝗹𝗹 𝗱𝗼 𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀”

This is a clean slate. We’re starting over. Let’s see what we can do. Stacy McNeil was given these words of encouragement when she started her job as manager of Sq’ewqéyl, one of several small Stó:lō communities surrounded by the City of Chilliwack. She knew she could get things done, but she also knew from her upbringing in the community of Seabird Island across the Fraser River, that listening to the community voices is essential to moving forward. Listen in as she shares stories about her efforts to help not only Sq’ewqéyl, but also Áthelets and Yeqwyeqwí:ws’s dreams come true.
